60 horse power enough to pull a tube or jet skis? (Need answers with boat experience)?
My dad is buying a boat and we found a great one for 2500 with 115 horse power but, then he found a cheaper on for 1500 with 60hp. Is it worth it to spend the extra money?

I can say from many years of boating experience in pulling skiiers, tubers, kneeboarders, and wakeboarders, that 60HP is NOT gonna cut it.
With a standard boat capacity load of 4 adults, while also having to tow a skier that at LEAST weighs 140 pounds, a 60HP outboard equipped boat will struggle and bog down.
As a rule of thumb, any boat that is to tow any skiier or wakeboarder must have an 85HP engine or better on it. As long as the boat meets this HP requirement, the boat is not too close to max weight capacity, and the drive system performs well, I’ve never had an issue getting a skier out of the water properly.
Have you considered other potential choices other than these two boats for selection? Is there a reason for your preference for these two boats in particular, are you looking mostly just for an outboard equipped boat?
If you haven’t considered looking at some I/O’s, they might be a good choice for you.
Keep in mind, as with ALL boats, you must conduct a test drive of the vessel and have it inspected by a certified marine shop at YOUR expense to validate boat condition before buying. There are no lemon laws protecting you in case you buy a boat that has repair problems or hidden permenant damage.
It seems you’ve only done boat shopping for a very small time and haven’t fully explored the available options. I recommend you reevaluate your options and the used boat buying market, you could be jumping into this too quickly. I believe you can get a better deal out of this.
